Art Shows and Whatnot

Liz, my hero at Bunnycutlet Gallery, brought some of my paintings to SCOPE Miami Beach as part of this year's Art Basel Miami extravaganza. This was Bunnycutlet's booth. My paintings are the ones with green fairy dust shooting forth.

I was floored to not only have a presence there, but to have sold two pieces.
The Conjurer, Gouache, 5"x5"

He Tells Slanderous Gossip, Gouache, 9"x16"

Meanwhile, back in NYC, Bunnycutlet Gallery held its 7th annual Too Art for TV show, an exhibition of fine art by members of the animation industry. I showed three small pieces.

L to r: The Guardian (Gouache, 3 1/2" x 5 1/2"), Ragnarök (Gouache, 4 3/4" x 6 3/4"), Acolyte (Gouache, 3 1/2" x 5 1/2")

Ragnarök sold and will be heading home with some kindhearted soul at the end of the month.

Though picturebook-esque and narrative in style, my gallery work is quite different from the work I do for children's books. In my paintings I depict sinister happenings and devious characters. He Tells Slanderous Gossip, for example, is the story of Ratatoskr, who runs up and down the tree to tell lies about the unnamed eagle to the wyrm, and vice versa. I draw my inspiration from the magical world of Norse mythology. You can read more about this little schemer here.

This will likely be the last post of 2013, so happy holidays everyone!

Journeying

I went off the grid in November, and happily decided to stay a bit longer.
I knew I'd have to return, though. Hello, again. See you more in 2014.
